History of Arby’s
Forrest Raffel and Leroy Raffel were the owners of a restaurant equipment business. They knew that there was a lot of scope in the fast food market. Apart from hamburgers, they wanted to open a fast food restaurant serving other dishes.
So they opened their first restaurant on July 30, 1964, in Boardman, Ohio. They named this restaurant Arby’s. This name is derived from the initials R & B of Raffel Brothers.
Initially, this restaurant served only roast beef sandwiches, potato chips, and soft drinks. The aim of the Raffel Brothers was to create a higher quality fast food restaurant than the hamburgers found in other fast food restaurants.
Arby’s started franchising in 1965 to expand its presence. By 1970, this fast food company had opened restaurants at more than 200 locations in the United States.
