Best Seller & Must Try
Pork Xiaolongbao – These are special dumplings filled with soup. You can choose from different variants such as Chili Crab, Shrimp, Chicken, Roasted Garlic, and Crab Roe.
Salted Egg Yolk Prawns – If you enjoy seafood, you will definitely like meaty prawns coated in salted egg batter. Filipinos who love savory and crunchy food must try this seafood dish with rice.
Crispy Beef Strips – Beef strips are deep-fried after being dipped in batter, which gives them their crunchiness. Onions and bell peppers are then added to enhance the flavor.
Golden Lava Salted Egg Yolk Bun – You must try this at least once in your lifetime because it looks very tempting when the “lava” comes out from inside the bun.
Chocolate Lava Xiaolongbao – If you are a chocolate lover, this is a must-try. It is a cross between a chocolate lava cake and xiaolongbao. First created in the Philippines, it has been a Filipino favorite ever since.
History
Yang Bingyi, an immigrant from Shanxi (People’s Republic of China), worked for Heng Tai Fung, a cooking oil retailer based in Taiwan, for 10 years. However, he wanted to pursue something different and operate his own business. In 1958, he and his wife, Lai Penmei, founded a cooking oil retail business named Din Tai Fung.
In 1970, there was a significant decline in the cooking oil business, prompting the owner to convert half of the company into a steamed bun shop. These buns quickly gained popularity in the area. After receiving a positive response, the company transitioned into a full-fledged restaurant in 1972, closing the cooking oil business.
The company began expanding internationally, opening its first overseas store in Tokyo in 1996. In 2005, Din Tai Fung established a branch in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Currently, Din Tai Fung has branches in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, the UAE, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, the Philippines, the UK, and the USA.
