History Of Dunkin’
Bill Rosenberg had a lot of experience selling food in factories and construction sites. In 1948, Bill started a restaurant named ‘Open Kettle’ in Quincy, Massachusetts, which sold doughnuts and coffee.
Although this business was going very well for him, he changed the name of the restaurant to Dunkin’ Donuts in 1950.
Five years later, in 1955, the company started expanding to other locations.
In 1963, Bill resigned as CEO, and his son Bob became the CEO of the company at the age of 25. In the same year, the company opened its hundredth Dunkin’ Donuts location.
After this, many changes were made to the Dunkin’ menu, with local interests being added at different locations.
The company’s expansion increased when it acquired two rival chains, Mister Donut and Dawn Donuts. Due to this, by 1998, the company had successfully opened stores at 2,500 locations.
At present, more than 11,300 Dunkin’ restaurants are operating worldwide, with over 8,500 restaurants in the United States and 32,000 restaurants in 36 countries.
