History of Dutch Bros
Dutch Bros was started by Dane and Travis Boersma, two brothers of Dutch descent, on February 12, 1992, in Grants Pass, Oregon.
Their family had worked on a dairy farm for three generations, but they soon faced various challenges in that business. As a result, the brothers decided to start a new venture.
Travis Boersma had the idea to open a coffee cart to sell espresso, while Dane Boersma arranged the finances needed to run the business.
Eventually, they spent $12,000 to set up an espresso machine and a single pushcart in downtown Grants Pass. They named this cart Dutch Bros, as their grandparents were immigrants.
