History of Panda Express
Panda Express was started by Andrew Cherng and Peggy Cherng in October 1983 in Glendale, California, United States.
Andrew Cherng is Chinese born while Peggy was born in Burma and raised in Hong Kong. Andrew and his father opened their first Panda Inn restaurant in the United States in 1973 in Pasadena, California.
In the beginning, different types of problems were faced in running the business. Many types of special deals and freebies were offered. The point of doing this was that more and more people could come to eat at Panda Inn.
In 1982, Peggy joined Andrew’s restaurant business. Finally, in October 1983, Panda Express was launched after various types of hard work.
Two years later, in 1985, the restaurant was opened at another location Westside Pavilion. Since then, the company rapidly opened restaurants at Vipin locations in the United States.
In 1987, Chef Andy Kao developed the Original Orange Chicken recipe. Beijing Beef was added to the Fast Food Menu on the 25th Anniversary of Panda Express.
In 2009, Panda Express introduced the Wok Smart Menu. In this, those items were kept, which contain 300 Calories or less and at least 8 grams of protein.
In 2010, Panda Express included Honey Walnut Shrimp in their restaurant menu, which became the Menu Master Item of that year.
