History
On May 31, 1958, two brothers, Dan and Frank Carney, opened a Pizza Hut restaurant. At that time, both were college students at Wichita State University.
Borrowing $600 from their mother, the two brothers opened a small pizza restaurant in their hometown of Wichita, Kansas. They used fresh meat and vegetables to make pizza, which became the reason for Pizza Hut’s success.
The Carney brothers opened their second restaurant in December of the same year. Due to the positive response from customers, they opened more Pizza Hut restaurants within a year.
Dan and Frank started franchising in 1959, after which many branches were established at different locations. In November 1977, PepsiCo acquired Pizza Hut. However, after 20 years, PepsiCo separated Taco Bell and KFC, along with Pizza Hut, forming a new company called Tricon Global Restaurants Inc., which acquired all three restaurant chains.
By 1968, Pizza Hut had opened more than 300 restaurants. Today, Pizza Hut operates 18,703 restaurants in 100 countries, serving more than one million pizzas daily. As a result, it has become the number one pizza brand in the world.

Pizza Hut started delivery services in the Philippines in 1989, beginning in Makati City and Quezon City. After receiving a positive customer response, delivery services were expanded to other locations.
