Wendy’s in the Philippines
Wendy’s opened its first restaurant in the Philippines on December 8, 1983, through Wenphil Corporation, the Philippine franchisee of Wendy’s.
Entry into the country was not going to be easy, as two giant hamburger fast-food restaurant chains were already dominating the market. Despite these conditions, this fast-food chain made its mark in the Philippines, becoming one of the best fast-food restaurant companies in the country.
Currently, Wendy’s Philippines is owned and managed by the Udenna Corporation.
Wendy’s has 52 stores providing service in the Philippines, most of which are located in the capital, Manila.

Fired Up Chicken Sandwich Solo & Combo – A classic chicken sandwich with jalapeño slices, special cayenne cheese sauce, and crispy onion rings, all placed between a premium toasted bun.
In addition, the Classic Chicken Sandwich and Spicy Chicken Sandwich have been added to Wendy’s menu.
Caesar Salad Supreme has been added to the Healthy Salads category, while Bacon Mushroom Melt Breakfast Bowl and Honey BBQ Tapa Breakfast Bowl have been included in Wendy’s Breakfast Menu.
The beverages menu has been expanded with the addition of Peach Litro Iced Tea, Peach Iced Tea Medium, and Peach Iced Tea Large.
Chocolate Frostyccino and Vanilla Frostyccino have been added to the coffee selection, along with Texmex Chicken, Texmex Beef, Chipotle BBQ Chicken, and Chipotle BBQ Beef in the Rice Bowls category.
History
Wendy’s was started 54 years ago, on November 15, 1969, by Dave Thomas. He named the restaurant after the nickname of his daughter, Melinda Lou Thomas. Her siblings used to call her Wendy, and the picture in Wendy’s logo is inspired by her.
Dave started the first Wendy’s restaurant in Columbus, Ohio, USA.
In August 1972, Wendy’s launched its franchise program, leading to the expansion of the fast-food restaurant across America. In 1976, Wendy’s opened its first restaurant in Canada.
This restaurant chain opened its 500th restaurant in Toronto and its 1,000th store in Springfield, Tennessee, in December 1976.
At present, Wendy’s operates in more than 7,000 locations worldwide. It is currently the world’s third-largest hamburger fast-food chain, serving favorite items like hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, salads, French fries, breakfast sandwiches, and frozen desserts to millions of customers every day.
